Inspired by one of the plots in the film Smoke (1995), in August 2006 I travelled around the Baltic Sea by train, bus and
boat in order to gather material for the project Long Distance Conversation. For three weeks I travelled through ten countries.
Every night at 10:00 pm, I took a picture. The journey went from Norway and east through Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia,
Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Denmark. When I got home, I recreated one image from each of the countries in a mixed technique
using silkscreen and painting on aluminium sheets.
